Finally, we showed what we can! On July 31 me and Argentina started Simlångsritten 120km CEI** and we came up with a 4th place! The time was 8:26:37 (14.2 km/h). The plan was to not hold her back as much as I´ve done before, but let her roll on at a relaxed pace. We had decided we would ride together with Kristina Hagevi - Super Extreem, just have fun and enjoy the ride and that was exactly what we did! Both horses behaved perfectly and was alert and forward all day even though it was a very hot day and a tough course with a lot of hills. Unfortunately, we couldn´t share the prize ceremony with Kiki as "Svenne" didn´t pass the final inspection.

I never thought it could be so easy to ride so far. But then, I had a great team with me. A really big thank you to my grooms Niklas, Kjell Westerback and Johanna Videla that allowed me to just focus on riding and that kept both me and Argentina alert and happy all day!

The service could not have been better. I even had help putting my feet in the stirrups! =)

The best of the day was that after 120km gallop across the finish line on a happy Argentina.

Now we'll see when the next ride will be for us. We have bought a farm and we are going to both renovate the house and build stables, but hopefully we´ll find the time for one more competition this year.

Last weekend I started and Argentina on the Göingeride 120km CEI **. Everything felt really good and Argentina was so focused and calm the day before, and then on the day of the competition she bounced right out of her box full of energy! Because she was so spirited, I decided to start after the others and rode off quietly around 10min after the start.

She felt really good during the first loop but at the first vet gate the ride was unfortunately over for us. She was so psyched when I was running up with her and half galloped and ran sideways as I did couldn´t keep up with her. The vets said they could not assess her properly because she ran on a dual track and we had to run several times, but after they had voted we were ultimately excluded because of lameness. She was ok afterwards but just in case I took her to the clinic last Tuesday, but she didn´t show any signs of lameness. It was really sad that the contest ended as it did but of course it feels very good that she is ok. So now we recharge and hope it goes better next time!

Al Mahab started his first endurancerace at Sämsholmsritten April 16. Although he thought it was a bit scary with so many people and new horses, he behaved well and once we were out on the track he relaxed completely and trotted on great. Unfortunately, he got kicked after only about ten km, and it was so bad that we had to stop. It was a bit dull start to his endurance career but he has been checked by the vet and is in training again.

But even if Mabbe´s start of the season not ended so good it started so much better for Argentina! Her first race of the year was Vedemaritten 80km. I had decided to start calm and easy and we rode off a little after the others. But after half the first loop, we were already catching up with the lead and went into the vet gate as first horse.

The rest of the ride we were joined by our club mates Martina Vikefors and Louisa Nilsson, but when Louisa started to ride faster with experienced El Pepas on the last loop, we chose to keep a bit slower pace because the others were so far behind. Eventually it became a sprint finish for the second and third place between me and Martina. We had decided to begin galopping side by side and then sprint the last bit. And when I asked Argentina to give that extra for me she responded directly and went full speed! A great feeling!

Finish!

So we came in second place and I am so happy! After the ride, she felt supernice, and even though I am the world's most worrysome horseowner I have to say that had I not known better, I would´ve thought it was before the ride and not after when we were out walking the day after ... So now we are entered for the 120kmCEI ** Göinge ride on June 5!

Now the spring has arrived and it's time to get started on updating this website again, I think!

The past weekend we took Shakeel to Oppreva´s open house. Unfortunately he was a bit thin as he have been growing a lot lately so he did not appear at his best. But otherwise he behaved perfectly! It was the first time he went on the trailer without mum, but all that training had paid off and he loaded without problems and was fine all the way. On Oppreva he got the box next to the 2-year old colt Primero, and they were quick to find out things to kill time with. Such as kissning. =)

Wisdoms Flair "Wissa" has been out on loan to a girl and went to her new home in april. She really loves to be pampered and be ridden, and I have unfortunately not had the time recently. And because I see how sad shegets when I only spend time with the other horses so I decided to lend her. Finally I found the perfect girl for Wissa, and last week I left her in Hovmantorp. I thought it would feel sad to leave her there but as soon as we entered the stable she got back that shine in her eyes and showed clearly that she wanted to be there! I've had her for 11 years, we've been through many adventures together and she has really been "my own" horse. Therefore it has been extra hard not to give her the attention she deserves. But now she has finally got her own person again and I´m sure they will have lots of fun together!

Wiss was also tested Scid-free and CA/NN this winter. This means that her offspring Ismee Allegria and Shakeel are also free of these inherited diseases. It feels so good to know, even if it was a bit nervous waiting for the results!

Otherwise, the winter mostly consisted of lots and lots of training and there have been many long hours in the saddle. If it has paid off, we will shortly find out as Mabbe start his first endurancerace this weekend at Sämsholmsritten, and Argentina on Vedemaritten Easter Monday.

Some mixed photos from this past winter:

This weekend the sun was shining and it was almost a bit of spring in the air. So we took the opportunity to make some photos of Shakeel. More can be seen in his photoalbum.

Al Mahab, or Mabbe as he´s called at home, has really made great progress in training and we´ve started going on a bit longer, "real" rides. He´s great to ride and likes it so much! Every time he realizes that we´re almost home and that the ride is coming to an end, he goes slower and slower and tries to turn off on other small roads that lead away again. =) This weekend we took the opportunity to take some pictures of the beautiful autumn weather.

Since about two weeks, we have another horse in the stable! It´s the 5-year-old Al Mahab from Kastanielund Arabians in Denmark that has moved here. It was a long time since I had a gelding, but now it's time again. He is a straight egyptian and by the stallion Al Lahab who has won literally everything possible in the show ring, from World Championchips in Paris, Egyptian Event in the United States to the Gold Cup in Dubai... Mahab is absolutely gorgeus and has two offspring since before. Now he is a gelding since a couple weeks and we have started working with him slowly. Hopefully you will see him out on the distance courses next year. =)

Al Mahab

Many thanks to Marianne S Krog, Kastanielund Arabians for this great opportunity!

Last weekend Argentina made her debut on 120km** at the ride Göinge, but unfortunately we failed to qualfie. men tyvärr blev vi inte godkända. I soon realized that something wasn´t as it should and at the first groomstop I had to discontinue the ride since she was tying-up. She was soon under treatment and has recovered nicely. Now the vet has been to have the samples taken and she will be examined thoroughly so that we can minimize the risk of it happening again. Of course it's sad to finish the season like this, but when I look back on it as a whole I´m very satisfied! She has had a stable, quiet season with five starts in which she had been approved at 4 and competed up until 100km. Now awaiting a long deserved rest so that she can recover properly before we start training for next season.

Argentina and I was 3rd placed on the District Championships!!! This weekend we competed in the 80km ride Isaberg which was also DM for Småland. I had previously heard that there would be a pretty demanding course in the hilly terrain, including a hefty climb up the hill Hestra. But sometimes it's obviously good to imagine the worst possible scenario because when I thought that the really steep climb were to begin, we were already at the top and Argentina had managed to it with little effort.

My goal was to increase the tempo a bit. Argentina did great, and I think this was the first time she actually realized that it´s a competition and not just a "walk in the woods in the new place" we are doing. =) The final time was 5:46:13 (13.9 mph) which to my great joy was enough for a DM-medal!

This weekend it was again time to compete for me and Argentina. This time it was even further to drive since we were heading towards Uppsala 50km north of Växjö and Upspsalaritten and the Swedish Teamchampionships. So already on thursday we packed ourselves into the car, trailer and mobile home and headed north. Argentina is really great to travel with! Despite the fact that she´s only 7 years she travels like a pro, she´s totally relaxed and both eats and drinks well.

The ride was very beautiful and fun, and this time we were accompanied by our teammember Martina Vikefors - Allegria ox almost the entire ride. It was Argentina debut over the distance and even though it was incredibly hot with over 30degrees most of the day she kept her spirit up and did so good! Our ridetime was 07:55:44h (12,6km/h). A big thank you to my kind parents who was there to help me the entire weekend!

Skatteg Argentina placed 3:rd on her first international competition! Last weekend me and Argentina participated in the A9-ritten 80km CEI*. Since the competition was in Kristinehamn about 350km north of Växjö I drove up on friday together with the other riders from Växjö Distansryttarsällskap. The track was very fun and varied to ride, and this time we didn´t have to ride alone but had very nice company most of the ride by the finnish rider Joona Mickelsson - Dali who rode the 160km.

Argentina did her best as usual and also this time didn´t have any remarks in the final vet examination, or as the vet in the thesecond gate´s re-inspection said: She´s not even affected. So with a 3:rd place and a happy and fresh Argentina, it was with a smile on my lips that I loaded everything into the trailer and drove home on sunday! =)

A big thank you to my grooms Veronica och Lovisa who did a very good job during the competition!

Skatteg Argentina is novice qualified! =) Last weekend med and Argentina were in Hässleholm to compete at the Vedemaride, 80km. Our plan was to complete the race in 12km/h which we also did. Argentina was so good!We had to ride the entire race by ourselves but she really did her best and didn´t lose her spirit. She had also imporoved her behavior at the vet.gate and was much calmer this time. Her pulse went down very fast and she didn´t try to bite nor kick any of the veterinarians... They gave her lots of praise which makes me so proud! =)

Before start with Johanna Videla - Karmenzita ox who later won the class

We completed the ride in 06:58:54h (11,9km/h) and was placed 4:th out of 7 riders. She has taken the ride very well and feels good both in body and legs. Now we´re looking forward to the A9-ride 80km CEI* on the 15th of may.

Only 5km left to the finish line!!

Last saturday Wisdoms Flair finally gave birth to her long awaited foal by Adawy. After being on foalwatch for a week she deided to have her foal when I was away on competition. Luckily our kind neighbours helped us and kept an eye on her during the day. And when we only had one hour drive left I got a phoncall that she had had her foal. Wissa was outstanding as usual and did everything perfect. She´s really the perfect mother!

Photo: H. Jonsson

It was a little grey colt and I couldn´t be more happy with the result! Adawy has both a different pedigree and type compared to the stallions I´ve previously used, and he has complimented Wissa just the way I was hoping for. Pictures will come soon.

It´s been a very long time since I updated here, I have been focusing on other peoples websites instead... But now it´s time again! So here are some photos from Argentinas training this winter.
